Twitter Marketing Game Plan
- Your goal is to spend 35 minutes per day posting on Twitter.
- Only do what’s productive.
- Your goal is to get followers off of Twitter and onto your list.
The Game Plan
- Build your Twitter following first.
- Then Tweet pretested content (no work).
- Blend undercover content into your tweets that direct people to opt-in to your email list.
Build your follower list every day
- Follow first.
- Follow people who are interested in your topic.
- Find people who are following other gurus, competitors, and colleagues.
- Don’t do it all in one day…if you don’t want your account deleted.
How to find people to follow
- Search gurus and competitor’s names.
- Use search.twitter.com.
- Search for people in your local area on Search.Twitter.com.
Important points about following:
- Follow at the right times of day. 6pm – 10pm (good), weekends (better), and especially Sundays (best).
- Important. Make sure that you have at least 10 tweets before you follow people (provide value).
Formula for Following
- Follow 50 people a day in the beginning until you reach 500 (spread it out).
- Give each person you added 3 or 4 days to follow you back or just delete them (ratio).
- After you reach 500 followers, follow 10% more people each day (for example, if you have 600 followers, you can follow 60 people a day).
- Look for quality, not quantity.
Tweet Pretested Content
- Know the best times to tweet.
- Tweet in “blocks”
- Borrow content and comedy (it’s okay to get off-topic…this builds rapport).
Best Days to Tweet
- Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to Tweet.
- Sundays are the worst days to tweet.
- Tweet 7 days a week (you never know when people are online).
Best Times to Tweet
- Afternoons (11am to 3pm) are best.
- Evenings (9pm to 11pm) are good.
- Mornings aren’t great, but still have a morning tweet block.
Tweeting in Blocks
- One tweet has virtually no impact.
- You will have more impact if you get into a conversation.
- Tweet in blocks of 5-10 tweets at a time.
- Tweet the entire block in 5-7 minutes (one tweet every 30-60 seconds),
- The last tweet should be a promotion disguised as a content tweet.
**Don’t sync your Twitter profile with your Facebook profile.
Sources for pretested content
- Google Alerts (search keywords, product names, etc.)
- AllTop.com
- StuffToTweet.com
Put the title of the article in your tweet with a (short url) link to the content.
Build a relationship
- Tweet things you are doing.
- Have conversations.
Undercover Tweets
- Tweet content on your blog, which should have an opt-in offer.
- Tweet webinar registrations (to invite to webinars).
- Tweet to your video or email bootcamp (if you have one).
- Your content to promotion ratio should never exceed 5:1 (1-2 promotions per tweet block).
Automate
- Outsource
- Use SocialOomph.com (used to be TweetLater).
- Use HootSuite.com.
- Use software (somewhat risky).
Sample Schedule
Monday-Friday 11a-3p Tweet (Best), 6p-10p Follow, 9p-11p Tweet
(Tuesday is the best day to Tweet)
Saturday all day Follow (better)
Sunday all day Follow (best), 9p-11p Tweet (Worst day to tweet)

I was just doing some web browsing on my Nokia Phone during my lunch at work , and I happened across something I thought was intriguing. It linked to your website so I hopped over. I can’t really find the relevance between your site and the one I came from, but your site good none the less .
