Twitter For Marketing

In order to be successful using Twitter for marketing, you are going to need to apply a Twitter marketing formula.  This Twitter marketing formula is quite easy, but most don’t know how to do it or even know what it is.  It is a step by step process that covers a number of different points.

Even before you create your profile, make sure that you pick a good username, since that username will be used in the link to your Twitter profile. So you should probably do some keyword research before you even create your Twitter account, if you haven’t already done so.

Don’t pick a username that doesn’t have anything to do with your business, like “foxylady124″. Pick a username that is professional and relevant, like “seattlegraphicexperts” or something like that. You can even use your own full name, which will help in your personal branding image.

If you use your full name, it will look like this:

http://twitter.com/Joe-Schmoe or http://twitter.com/JoeSchmoe

Picking a good username for your Twitter profile is very important because when people use the Twitter site and other sites to search for users, Twitter will use your profile username in the search results. So if someone is looking for a Joe Schmoe, your profile will come up.

Twitter for Marketing

If you are using Twitter for marketing to certain types of customers, you need to make sure that you have your main keyword in your username. So for instance if you are a Seattle roofer, then you need to pick a username like “seattlediscountroofers” so that when people type the word “roofers” in the Twitter search utility, your profile will show up in the search results.

The first thing that you need to do is set up your Twitter profile.  It is important to have an attractive profile so that people will want to follow you and read your tweets.  It is a big mistake to start following people without having first updated your Twitter profile, added your photo, and sending out a few tweets.

Now if you already have a contact list that you have uploaded into Twitter, then in that case those contacts already know, like, and trust you.  So in that case it is okay if you didn’t update your Twitter profile yet.  But if you are using Twitter for marketing and generating free leads for your business, then in that case you need to develop your Twitter presence first, then you can add or invite new followers.

You need to make sure that your profile page is complete, and that you add information about who you are, what type of business you are marketing, and why they should follow you.  You also need to make sure that you include a call to action so that your followers have a way to contact you.  That can be either a website URL, a phone number, or an email address.

Another important aspect of using Twitter for marketing, is determining what direction you want to take for your company branding.  You might only need one account, or you may have several different types of products or divisions to your company that may require that you create several accounts in order to most effectively use Twitter for marketing your brand.

Even though you can automate Twitter for marketing, you will need to interact more personally by networking with the Twitter community to further your business and market your brand.  This can be more difficult to do if you have multiple Twitter accounts, but there are several automation tools that you can use to make this easier to manage.  Just remember that if you are using multiple accounts, you need to keep your Twitter marketing organized so that you won’t confuse your followers (or yourself)!

Twitter has an activity requirement, and has the right to delete your Twitter account if you haven’t logged in for awhile.  So don’t create a new Twitter account unless you know that you are going to be using it regularly.

On your Twitter profile, be sure to write a good bio.  This will be read by your followers if they like your tweets and decide that they want to find out more about you.  In addition, as long as you have sprinkled your main keywords throughout your Twitter bio, your profile will also come up when other users are searching for what you have to offer.

When you write your Twitter profile bio, make your bio interesting so that people will want to read it.  When you use Twitter for marketing, you need to put some effort into your work in order to get the best resuls.

The bio field on your Twitter profile is limited to 160 characters, so you need to be short, quick, and to-the-point.  Make sure you have included your main keyword phrase naturally within the text of your bio, and end it with a link to your website or some other way to contact you.

Once you are satisfied with the way that your profile is set up, then you can begin to seriously use Twitter for marketing by writing your first tweets.  A tweet is simply a short post of no more than 140 characters that you type into the box at the top of your Twitter profile (when you are logged in).

To get ideas for writing tweets, you can start with speaking about promotions that your company is offering.  When using Twitter for marketing, use a writing style similar to what you would use when writing a title for a press release.  For instance, you could write:

“Loma Linda dog groomer offers special discount for first-time clients.  Get 50% off with coupon code xyz123″.

For every promotional post that you write, write two or three other types of posts that are unrelated to business.  For example, you can join the conversations of some of your Twitter followers, write about what is going on around you, or post about an interesting article you read.

Using Twitter for marketing can be a very effective way to reach out to a large community of people that you might not otherwise have met.  Taking the time to master strategies for proper marketing on Twitter can reap exciting benefits for your network marketing, affiliate marketing, mlm, or small business.
